Cypriot embroidery workshop during the Intercultural Community event in Common Ground, Nicosia, CY.

The event was supported by: Mission Solidarity Cyprus, YEU, Together Toward New Horizons, Vymata Studio and Living Mosaic of Cultures.

Together with Cypriot Bauhaus we organised our first Drink and Draw, in Yalla.

The event took the form of a large table where people from different social backgrounds and cultures shared in drawing activities.

Gridra came together with @cypriotbauhaus and together we presented the Bauhaus, the influence in Cypriot architecture, the women of Bauhaus and their textiles. All this connected to the cypriot weaving and possible influences from the Bauhaus.

The presentations resulted in an open discussion with all participants and speakers sharing valuable information, thoughts, ideas and future projects.

During the Back to the Future - Weaving workshop, all participants had the oportunity to learn interesting facts about the fythkiótiko tapestry from Cyprus. How it is made and where it is coming from. Later on, using a custom made weaving loom designed by Gridra and cut at the laser cutter of Makerspace Larnaca, all participants learnt how to weave a small tapestry their own.

Everyone took a small textile back home with them.
